Charlton is an area of South East London, England, and a part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. It is located east of Greenwich and west of Woolwich. It is 7.2 miles (11.6 km) east-southeast of Charing Cross. ‘Charlton next Woolwich’ was an ancient parish in the county of Kent, which became part of the metropolitan area of London in 1855. It is home to Charlton Athletic F.C. and the location of Charlton House.

Charlton lies between the A206 on the north and the A207 on the south. The southern approach of the Blackwall Tunnel crossing of the River Thames is located to the west, while the South Circular Road lies some way to the east. Charlton is served by Charlton railway station where the Greenwich Line diverges from the North Kent Line from Dartford to London. The area is served by London bus routes 53, 54, 161, 177, 180, 380, 422, 472, 486, and N1. North Greenwich is the nearest tube station, a short bus ride to the north.

Charlton House is a beautiful Grade 1 listed Jacobean Manor House, situated in South East London. Most of its original features are still preserved throughout the house, including excellent fireplaces, ceilings, doors and the recently restored Old Staircase. It is the ideal venue for wedding receptions, parties, conferences and is home to a wide variety of community groups. In addition the newly planted Walled and Sensory gardens are the ideal place for quiet contemplation all year around. Guided tours can be arranged for groups in advance. A cafe is open on weekdays.
